# FunConnect

> FunConnect (https://funconnect.app) is a Nigerian event marketplace and event ticketing platform. People use it to book specialists (event vendors and entertainers: DJs, MCs, hype men, live bands, caterers and small chops vendors, photographers and videographers, decorators, makeup artists, PS5 and game setups, and more) with the payment held in escrow until the job is done, and to sell or buy party tickets, give free tickets, or send invite-only access cards.

FunConnect works across Nigeria. Prices are in Naira (NGN). Payments are made by card or bank transfer through Flutterwave.

## Key terms

- Specialist: anyone you can hire for an event. In Nigeria these are usually called event vendors, entertainers or service providers (DJ, MC or compère, hype man, live band, comedian, dancer, caterer, small chops or "item 7" vendor, cake maker, photographer, videographer, decorator, makeup artist, usher, PS5/VR/game setup). FunConnect calls them specialists.
- Host: anyone planning an event (birthday, wedding, naming ceremony, house party, corporate event, concert, club night). Hosts book specialists, post jobs, sell or give tickets, and send invite cards.
- Escrow: the host pays FunConnect; the money is held and released to the specialist after the host confirms the job is done.
- Free ticket: a N0 ticket type; guests claim it with their name and email and get a QR ticket.
- Invite only: a private event (e.g. a wedding) with no ticket sales; the host adds guests and each gets an access card with a QR code by email.
- One account can be both a host and a specialist.

## Booking a specialist

1. Search by category, area and price at https://funconnect.app/search and open a specialist's profile. Profiles show packages, prices, portfolio photos and reviews.
2. Pick a date, time and package, and add notes. The price, date and what is included are written into a contract before work starts.
3. Pay into escrow. The host pays FunConnect, not the specialist directly. The specialist can see the booking is paid for but cannot access the money yet.
4. After the event, the specialist marks the job as done and the host confirms it. The money is then released to the specialist. If the host does nothing before the review window shown on the booking closes, the money is released automatically.

- Disputes: if something went wrong, the host raises a dispute before confirming. The money stays in escrow while the FunConnect team reviews evidence from both sides (messages, arrival check-in location, photos) and decides whether to pay the specialist or refund the host.
- No-shows and cancellations by the specialist: because the money is still in escrow, the host can get it back.
- Cancellations by the host: cancelling close to the event can cost part of the booking amount. The exact rules are in the Terms of Service.
- Materials advance: for some bookings that need materials (for example catering), part of the payment can be released early as a materials advance; the rest stays in escrow.
- Fees: hosts pay the listed price with no booking fee. FunConnect takes 6.9% (VAT included) of the service amount from the specialist's payout; materials are not charged. Ticket sales carry a 5% fee taken from the host's ticket earnings. Free tickets and invite cards are free. Wallet top-ups carry a 5% charge, shown before paying.
- Verification: specialists can verify their government ID to get a tick on their profile. Reviews come only from real bookings made on FunConnect.

## Party tickets

- Buying: open a party page (https://funconnect.app/parties lists upcoming public parties), choose a ticket type and quantity, and pay. The ticket, with a QR code, is emailed to the buyer. Lost tickets can be shown again at https://funconnect.app/redownload-ticket.
- At the gate: the host's team scans the QR code with FunConnect's PIN-protected scanner. Each ticket can be checked in only once.
- Selling: any host can create a party, set ticket types, prices and limits, and share the link. People who buy several tickets can share a link so friends pay for their own tickets. FunConnect's ticket fee is taken from the host's ticket sales; buyers pay the ticket price shown.
- Refunds: ticket refunds depend on the event. Buyers with a problem should contact the host or support@funconnect.app.

## Free tickets and invite-only events

- Free tickets: hosts can add a free ticket type. Guests enter their name and email (one free booking per email, up to 4 people) and the QR ticket is emailed to them.
- Invite only (weddings, private parties): the host adds guests one by one or pastes a list. Each guest gets an access card by email, with an optional message from the host, and the gate team scans it like any ticket.
- Hosts get an in-app alert and an email for each sale, with running totals; they can switch either off in their notification settings.

## Planning help

FunConnect has an AI planner that drafts a budget, a timeline and a list of the kinds of specialists to book for an event. The host makes the final decisions.
