Wedding vendor checklist: who to book and what to agree
The vendors most Nigerian weddings need, and the questions to settle with each one before you pay.
By the FunConnect team · 2026-10-21
Every wedding is different, but most need the same core team. Book the ones in highest demand first, and agree the details with each before money changes hands.
The core team
MC: keeps the programme moving. Agree the order of events and who introduces whom.
DJ or live band: agree playing hours, who brings speakers and lights, and any songs for key moments.
Caterer and small chops: agree the menu, number of guests, serving staff and what happens to leftovers.
Photographer and videographer: agree hours, number of edited photos, delivery date and format.
Decorator: agree the setup time, the look (share pictures), and when they'll clear up.
Makeup artist: agree the number of faces, start time and location.
What to ask every vendor
What exactly is included in the price?
What time will you arrive, and how long do you need to set up?
What do you need from us at the venue (power, space, a contact person)?
What happens if the programme runs late?
What's your cancellation policy?
Getting quotes
If you're not sure who to choose, post a job on FunConnect with your date, location and budget range. Vendors send proposals, you compare them side by side, and you book the one you want with payment held in escrow.
Managing guests
For a controlled guest list, send each guest an access card with a QR code that your door team scans, or create invitation cards that you send on WhatsApp and collect RSVPs. Both are free on FunConnect.
